Tabernacle of the Congregation Ministries History

In the year 1993, the Lord revealed to Dr. Carlos Jermaine Richard in a dream that he was called to serve as a shepherd in His Kingdom. For the next seventeen years, Dr. Richard prepared and equipped himself to fulfill the assignment of serving as a pastor in the Lord’s Church. In the year 2007, as Dr. Richard was reading Exodus 33:7, the appellation “Tabernacle of the Congregation” was emphasized in his spirit and would become the name of the Church. The Lord directed Dr. Richard to establish the vision, commission, purpose, and mandate, and the Ministries of Reformation were also formed.

In the year of 2009, during watch night service, the Lord released Dr. Richard to establish Tabernacle of the Congregation Ministries in Portland, Oregon in the historic St. Johns community in the heart of Columbia Villa. On May 23, 2010, Tabernacle of the Congregation Ministries held the first Church service in the small gymnasium of the University Park Community Center (now the Charles Jordan Community Center). The dream and assignment that was revealed seventeen years ago have now come to fruition and we believe that God will do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ask or perceive.

The Next Phase of History – New Location

In June 2012, during Sunday morning worship, the Lord revealed through a prophetic utterance that it was time to look for a building of our own to begin expansion of the vision and ministry. The prophetic utterance mandated that Tabernacle of the Congregation remain in the St. Johns Community. Every Saturday after Christian education, we canvassed the North Portland area looking for buildings to hold worship services. Although it felt like we were wasting time, gas, and money, we continued to follow the prophetic instructions of the Lord and look for a building. In March 2013, Dr. Richard held a conversation with another Pastor who was also conducting worship services at the Charles Jordan Community Center about the need for a church facility. Within the next two weeks, we received a phone call about a building in North Portland that was available for immediate use. After meeting with Pastor Dennis Mostyn of Abundant Life Church, the prophetic instructions were fulfilled and came to pass. Tabernacle of the Congregation held its first worship service at the new location on Resurrection Sunday 2013. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise.
